It's all lies!!! Everyone is different!
Your sister is an insensitive twit. I had a natural child birth that was not painful at all; in fact, for the first several hours I happily knitted and chatted with my husband and visitors. Transition was painful, but it only lasted about forty minutes and the pain ended as soon as I was able to begin pushing. Like a few other posters said, you will feel constipated, but as the baby moves down the birth canal and finally crowns, that feeling will pass. The only other painful part was when my daughter's head emerged, but my midwife applied a hot compress to the area and that immediately soothed the pain. It helped that I was allowed to walk around while in labor and sit up while pushing; giving birth lying on one's back is widely known to be more difficult and more painful than giving birth in any other position. Good luck, do your own research, ignore the stupid horror stories that people will tell you just to scare you (who knows why they do it!), and enjoy your pregnancy!
Congratulations! Boy or girl? :)
Sucks to be you.
I have a 5 week old who was born 9 lbs 2 oz. I was in labor for less than an hour with no meds. Contractions are much worse than pushing... if you can get through the contractions, you'll be fine.
Yeah, sometimes people tell me made-up unverifiable statistics about unmeasurable things too.
You need to tell your sister she is a MORON...every childbirth experience is different. I didn't feel any of my contractions until 7 centimeters dilated. if you can't take the pain you can always get an epidural. if your sister has never had a child she has no room to talk about what it feels like

Well, there's no turning back now.
Just take the drugs when they offer them, the epidural may hurt at first but it's so worth it
