Today, my step-mother threw a surprise party on my acceptance to college. People kept telling me how delightfully shocked and happy they are for me. "UPenn" was written everywhere, when I really got into Penn State. Everyone thinks I'm going to an Ivy League. FML

Today, my mom called and told me I got accepted to my first-choice college. I got really excited and asked her to read me the letter. As she started to read it, she said, "Oops... uh, nevermind." FML

Today, I received my acceptance letter to one of the most prestigious universities in the US, as well as a nice scholarship. I was so proud of myself, I eagerly showed my dad, hoping he would shed a tear or two. His only words were, "Just get a job so you can get the hell out of my house." FML

Today, I excitedly told my mom how I got accepted to the master’s program of my dreams. She decided now would be a good time to proudly repeat for the millionth time how she gave up a full ride to the Ivy League to marry my father, and I ought to be a "good woman" and do the same. FML

Today, I attended my school's special invitation-only awards ceremony, relieved that I was getting a much-needed scholarship. I watched all my friends go up and win scholarships. In the end, I only got a certificate for doing well on the PSAT. My whole family showed up for this. FML

Today, I got a large envelope from a college I applied to earlier. My mom, expecting big news, made my family gather round as I opened it. It ended up being a letter of rejection from not just that school, but all three campuses of the state college. FML

Not even an FML. Penn State is a fantastic school. I don't even go there and I know that. Don't know why they wouldn't be equally as happy that you are going to Penn State instead, and I don't know why you'd be ashamed of it.

Dude, i'm from Philly and i go to Penn State. I can tell you right now, while the degree might not be as valuable, PSU is a great school and a whole lot more fun than Penn. Get football tickets and rub it in to your ivy league friends when we take the national championship next year. WE ARE!!!!

#27, are you on crack? Judging from the steadily dropping balance in my bank account I most definitely am not getting my education for free. Our unis may be somewhat cheaper (though not drastically so) than American public universities, but it's still expensive.

Oh and Canada definitely doesn't have Ivy League Colleges...wait do they have colleges? I thought all Canucks went to American Universities or became fur trappers. P.S. I actually love Canada, Vancouver is maybe the best city in North America.
