Today, my step-mother threw a surprise party on my acceptance to college. People kept telling me how delightfully shocked and happy they are for me. "UPenn" was written everywhere, when I really got into Penn State. Everyone thinks I'm going to an Ivy League. FML

Today, my mom called and told me I got accepted to my first-choice college. I got really excited and asked her to read me the letter. As she started to read it, she said, "Oops... uh, nevermind." FML

Today, I received my acceptance letter to one of the most prestigious universities in the US, as well as a nice scholarship. I was so proud of myself, I eagerly showed my dad, hoping he would shed a tear or two. His only words were, "Just get a job so you can get the hell out of my house." FML

Today, I excitedly told my mom how I got accepted to the master’s program of my dreams. She decided now would be a good time to proudly repeat for the millionth time how she gave up a full ride to the Ivy League to marry my father, and I ought to be a "good woman" and do the same. FML

Today, I attended my school's special invitation-only awards ceremony, relieved that I was getting a much-needed scholarship. I watched all my friends go up and win scholarships. In the end, I only got a certificate for doing well on the PSAT. My whole family showed up for this. FML

Today, I got a large envelope from a college I applied to earlier. My mom, expecting big news, made my family gather round as I opened it. It ended up being a letter of rejection from not just that school, but all three campuses of the state college. FML

haha I went through a similar experience when I got my SAT scores back. I got a 1950 and I told my mom that if I try next time I take the SAT's I could get into UPenn, an Ivy League school. She then proceeded to yell to her friends that I got a 1950 and I'm getting into an Ivy League School and I was just like no mom, no. lol but hey it's embarrassing but at least you got into a good college :) have fun!

I called shenanigans on the UPenn guy saying they have a gazillion different languages, but it's true. Insane. (P.S. Beat out on the Public Ivies list by University of Vermont? *That's* a bummer.)

Both PSU and UPenn are great schools. You should be proud getting into PSU. Congrats! You'll love being at college in Philadelphia, it's a wonderful city.

No matter what college you go to, your experience is what you make it. I am a student at PSU and I love it. However I had friends go here that hated it. Same for UPenn. It's all about how you do it. Yes, Penn State is an awesome place, and I'm sure UPenn is too. To everyone bashing either place, shut up, because the people you're going against aren't going to listen to a word you say.
