UK should follow european law. Threaten to complain. Working with out pay is equivalent to slavery, thats very badly viewed in the eu (i know uk is not totally in the eu but a lot of laws are similar). I would send them a list first of the penalties i will incur and ask for extra to compensate. Or just go court. You will probably get at least 6 months pay without work but afterwards look for a new job elsewhere

That is total bullshit. If their system honestly can’t do a one-off payment, they need to just give you money in advance to be repaid to them when the pay comes through.
Doesn't your work contract states which day or the month you'll get paid? They breached the contract with no means of compensation, talk to a lawyer.
