Sorry to hear, OP! I would prefer the math book-but I have many years on you and can tell you that probably got the better gift in the long run-assuming you use the math book! Like the other guy suggested, get good at math, get you a career as a doctor/engineer/scientist, then you will have the money to buy whatever you want! MOST of the better paying jobs require oodles of math nowadays! Sucks in the short run, though!
OP, think about this: You get a math book. She gets a new iPad. However.. If you spend as much time reading your Math Book as she does playing and social networking on her new iPad, you shall be clever, get good grades. What will she be? A Facebook Freak, Twitter Taunter, MySpace Maniac, Tumblr Tool. You can be whatever you want, do whatever you want to do, do good in your life, and once that is done, you can buy your iPad. She however, will be stuck at home, no man, no degrees, and still getting mama to cook her pancakes. She will have no money, no job. Only her iPad. She will wish she never ever saw that iPad. Even though I have an iPad, which I am using now, I have already accomplished my life goals, done what I wanted, and am what I am. So then I got my iPad. F Her life more like.
It's not the hide that matters its the thought. He probably thinks the book is more special. My uncle gave me a book for graduation I was like o thanks thinking not. But later there was a 100 dollar bill in each page.
Haha good old reverse psychology strikes again.
Don't let it bug you OP. Maybe on her birthday, she'll get a math book and you'll get whatever awesome new gadget is out. Cheer up and learn some maths while you wait :)
This is why being an only child is best. One always gets treated like a worthless passing thought while the other is treated like royalty.
Perhaps it's the textbook you are going to need for your first year college course, and seeing as how expensive college textbooks are, I'd be very pleased with that. Even if it weren't, I'd enjoy it. Math is good for you. The textbook will probably last longer than the iPad, too. I'm an odd one, it seems.

That is just all kinds of unfair right there.
Psh, an iPad? What can you really do with that? But a giant math pad? Why, you can make paper airplanes, play tic-tac-toe, doodle, origami...oh, and learn math! You DEFINITELY got the better end of that deal.
