Your brothers name eddy?
As a diesel owner and diesel mechanic. gas in a diesel engine especially a pick up as long as it is a older truck. and diesel in a gas isn't good for catalytic converters. hope he forgives ya cuz I'd be pissed
I notice the ford parts guy know for sure it will need a new engine. Mechanic to mechanic that sound like a typical parts guy diagnosis to you too?
whatever is the most expensive thing on there list is what it needs lol thank god they don't have new cars on there haha
Not gonna lie I would take time forgiving you if it was my truck but then again It's my baby. Just help him fix it if you can and if not better start putting in them applications so you can help him get a new vehicle. Helpful hint, if your not familiar with a vehicle and you want to do anything with someone else's vehicle or even your own, try reading the owners manual
57 Gas will not burn in a diesel period the heat of compression isn't enough to light it what causes the damage is the fact that gas does not lubricate anywhere near as good as diesel
57, 67.. no... you may damage the fuel pump because petrol is not as good a lubricant as diesel, but the main damage is caused because the high compression ratios of diesel engines are not designed for petrol. Petrol will combust under the pressure on the 'up stroke' of the pistons, as opposed to the down stroke. Suddenly the explosion is trying to push them downwards whilst they are trying to move up. This can result in bent conrods, deformed pistons and in extreme cases a piston can even breach the wall of the engine block. Look up 'pre ignition'.
Gotta ask are u a girl
Ouch..That can be an expensive fix. Especially if you started it up and ran it through the system for a bit. If not then let's hope he is good enough with cars to where he can take his own tank off and drain it and avoid to much of an expense. Honest mistake OP. Sorry that happened but at least you actually feel bad about it. I hope he was understanding about it. I am sure he was/Is a little pissed off about it But hope he took it in stride. Hope it gets better for you OP. Sending good vibes your way!
Heh heh... Pre ignition. I used to have that problem too.
