Op, I'm sorry your birthday is being over shadowed by your mom's long, dead cat. I don't personally understand crying for months (or years) over a pet's demise, as I'm not expecting to outlive any of my dogs when I got them. I know that barring an accident, I'll be burying them and if I didn't think I could do that, I never would have gotten them. All you can do is enjoy the wonderful time you have with them, and hang on to those happy memories, knowing you gave them the best home and life you could. :) Maybe sit down with your mom and give her an hour of your compassion, relive a story or two, then take her out a some birthday meal and cake. Either way, I hope you were able to have some You time to celebrate. Happy birthday! :)
Hey today it is my birthday as well!
I just don't get how some people get so emotionally bounded with animals.
Maybe becuase pets are awesome and they will always love us no matter how stupid, ugly, or douchy one may be
Are you kidding me? You should try having a pet once and then lose it. People can be just as close to animals as they are to other people. I had a little Yorkie Poo that I had gotten for my birthday...he was my little baby, until the pit bull next door decided to charge him and make him his chew toy. The pit bull punctured my little guy's lungs, and I had to put him to sleep. It was the hardest day of my entire life so far. He was the friendliest, most playful dog, and he was only a year and a half old. To me, it was the equivalent of a mother losing her child, because that's how I viewed him and took care of him. You're either a heartless person or have no animals and thus cannot even begin to comprehend how heartbreaking it is to lose one.
Happy birthday! I hope your friends wished you a happy birthday.
Seriously... way to be born and ruin everything... nice...

Happy Birthday OP! Sorry to hear about the cat.
Damn cat... out of 365 days of the year, why couldn't it have chosen a more opportune time to pass away? How dare the cat do that!?
