Today, was my birthday. Today was also the day that my mom's cat died four years ago. She was too busy crying and looking at old photos of her beloved cat to even wish me a happy birthday. FML

Get your mom a new kitten to help her with the depression of losing her other cat. She is grief stricken, and whether it seems irrational to you, her feelings are real. Maybe the new kitten will help her move on.

I'm so sorry to hear that. While the death of animal can be as hard to deal with as the death of a person, in no way should it have overshadowed your birthday. And the fact that the cat has been dead for that long and your mom is still acting like that...maybe she needs to see a therapist.
