Today, was my grandmother's funeral and we had to sing. My dad is a horrible singer, and I tried my hardest not to laugh, I turned red faced and tears were falling from my eyes. My step mother held my hand and said that she was in a better place. I couldn't hold it any longer. I laughed my ass off. FML

Hi everyone, person who wrote the FML here. There seems to be some sort of confusion going on around here, I didn't laugh because my stepmother said that my grandmother was in a better place, It was just the wrong thing to burst out laughing to...not that the funeral helped at all. And thanks to those who made nice comments and stupid ones. It made my day a little bit better 8D

When I get nervous, I sometimes get uncontrollable laughter for seemingly mundane stuff too.

I'd like to think that she was watching from beyond and laughing right along with you. : )

Ok, let me get this straight, you were at your grandmothers funeral, you knew you had to laugh, you knew it wasn't appropriate to laugh at a funeral, and you also knew that you couldn't hold it in any more. That's all correct right? Well if you knew all of that, why didn't you just walk away and go to the bathroom or something so that you could laugh, and it wouldn't be disrespectful?

well, I was In the front row and stuck in the middle, I didn't want to be disrespectful for leaving in the middle of her funeral. But I guess I ended up being disrespectful anyways it seems.

I totally laughed at my grandma's funeral. My great-aunt was up giving a speech and she started talking about the war in Iraq and how we need to find Osama Bin Laden. She was going off on these crazy tangents and I just couldn't help myself. I'm sure my grandma understood.

I know how it feels to laugh at inappropriate timings... *cough* class *cough* I'm from Iraq and have NO idea what Osama Bin Laden has to do with the war... I can see why you had to burst out laughing.

Are you kidding me rn? He's responsible for the 9/11 attacks!

haha you win OP that almost happened to me its ok

Funerals cause people to need to release their emotions. Haven't any of you ever felt really awkward or sad and then after crying or feeling really embarrassed, started laughing and said "I don't know why I'm laughing!!"? OP, I understand.

Lmao, that would so happen to me. Last week, my younger brother started crying because my dad and I were joking around about him having a crush (he's 10 haha and takes stuff really seriously) and we were all quiet after that, but my face was all distorted from trying not to laugh.

First of all, I've always heard Canadians being made fun of, but not being "inbred"! That's a new one for me! Southern United States is reserved for the inbred and rednecks! I'm from New York so I don't take any sides. Just sayin...

New one for me too. I live in Canada and I didn't realize how widely mocked we are until last year. xD I've lived here all my life and I don't see how any of the stereotypes are true. We don't even say 'Eh'. I don't know how people come up with this crap. And I notice we are getting really off topic here. xD

You laughed at your grandmothers funeral?! Whats next? Farting and your granpas?

My grandfathers died before I met them D: That would be quite funny too~

Both my grandfathers died before I was born too, and I'm the oldest of my siblings... But that would be AWKWARD!
