Today, while driving home from work, I noticed the driver next to me was happily chatting on her phone. I fucking despise these would-be murderers, so I slammed my horn to signal my disgust. She panicked and swerved straight into my car. FML

Never startle a distracted driver, YDI.

Talking with a passenger or listening to music is just as distracting as talking on the phone. So unless you don't talk or listen to the radio, you have no right to do anything. It's idiots like you that cause accidents because you are more focused on what other people are doing, then on your own driving. Apparently their phone distracts you more then it does them... You deserved it

Actually studies have shown listening to music or talking to a passenger is nowhere near as dangerous as using a phone without a hands free device whilst driving. Using a phone increases the likelihood of an accident fourfold.

In Maryland it's illegal unless on a hands-free. However, the police need a valid reason to pull you over first. I talk on my phone quite a bit while driving and I have yet to lose focus.. I've been cut off, break checked, you name it.. Never came close to crashing. There are a number of bad drivers that are driving without the use of cellphones... Why not focus on retesting the older generation... The kids where I live have it rough getting their license, only fair the older generations have to do it too... So many aggressive drivers as it is.

Trying to cause panic is also a good way to cause vehicular homicide. Ydi for being a hypocrite. Go buy a bumper sticker instead of being stupid.

There's going I be more would be murders if he keeps angering people like this.

You damaged your car, but you taught her a lesson.

Not like she was texting. You kinda deserve that one for being a dick.

True maybe honking his horn wasn't the best move, but the woman performing the illegal-for-years-because-it-gets-people-killed phonecall is the one in the wrong here. Particularly as you can buy handsfree sets in the poundshop for chrissake.

I get the impression that a lot of people on here use phones whilst driving. In the UK it is well publicised that it is an illegal activity and carries a fine of up to £1,000 ($1545) and three penalty points on the licence (any more than 12 and you are banned from driving for up to 18 months). The woman was knowingly committing an illegal act and it is entirely her fault that this accident occurred.

A couple of weeks ago there was a report in the UK about a 17 year old who killed a a family of four because she was texting whilst driving. I myself had a near miss a month ago when someone sailed through a red light whilst talking on a phone and missed my car by inches (they did not appear to notice me even at that point). ROSPA in the UK has carried out a study which has shown the cause of accidents has altered with distraction accidents having increased massively since mobile phones have become popular. Studies have shown the risk of having an accident increases fourfold when using a mobile in comparison to not using one. The fact the woman crashed into the OP simply for being beeped is ample evidence to support this.

Well, I hope you were at least wearing a seatbelt! Sorry OP, but karma can be a bitch sometimes...

This really isn't an example of karma - beeping may not have been the best action, but talking on your phone is illegal, means you're distracted and means you have only one hand on the wheel - a slightly wrong action done because of a worse action causing another bad action isn't karma. Karma would be the woman talking on the phone being hit by someone talking on their phone. In this particular case it would also be ironic. Please, learn what something is before mentioning it.

Not forgetting that in the UK we don't use automatic cars and need the other hand to change gear.
