Well, we don't know the whole story. So what if the girlfriend lied about her name or something? Then that would be an FML. If OP forgot her name...YDI.

Just throwing out a possibility here, maybe her name is Katherine or Katelyn and she doesn't like being called Kate. OP you would still deserve it for not knowing that she doesn't like being called Kate.
