Today, while riding my bike on the sidewalk, I came across a ladder. To avoid bad luck, I swerved around it into the street. I got hit by a car. FML

'Today, while riding my bike on the sidewalk' I clicked Y.D.I at this point. Cycling on the pavement (sidewalk) is illegal in most countries. Pavements are for pedestrians and those buggy things that old people drive.

You deserved it for riding on the pavement; you should have been on the road. You should also have done a shoulder check and clearly signalled your intention to merge onto the road. Idiot.

Technically you shouldn't be riding your bike on the sidewalk at all. According to the rules of the road a bike is a vehicle and should be driving with the rest of the vehicular traffic.
