Today, while serving a customer, she told me: "God made you a working class citizen so you could serve! If God wanted you to go to college, he would have made sure you were able to go!" FML

I tried explaining that, but she said that "if you were meant to go to college, your life would lead to it naturally. Your life has led you to be part of the working class, see?" So pretty much: if I'm not a rich person, I better not even think about going to college.

Come on guys, don't hate on the lady being served because she has a faith. There's nothing wrong with that. I'm a man of God, but you won't see me insulting others because of what they choose to believe. Secondly, the woman meant no harm by saying that. Was it the best choice of words? Not exactly, but I'm sure she is not trying to patronize anybody.

I agree that it is not okay to insult someone for their beliefs but the way she said that was very patronising and insulting. Whether she meant to or not, I think she acted very badly and was not open minded - she thought she was right and did not acknowledge OP's opinion. It wasn't a debate situation, it was her giving some beliefs that seem to assume some people are better than others. So no,insulting her for her religion is not okay but to say that those beliefs are bigotted I think is ok. I think it is like saying that God made some people to be slaves if you like, I do not agree with it and I do not think it should be used as an excuse to treat people badly.

I may be believer but i ******* hate people believing that everything around is "his" doing. I'm a deist so for me there is no "God wanted you to..." God doesn't interfere with our lives in any manner. He indirectly created us (I believe he gave first creation ability to adapt so it could evolve), gave us his rules and that's all. Those who live by them can go to "his" side after death, those who don't: go to hell. It's just that simple. At least for me.
