Today, while working at a client's house, I noticed that their sliding calendar was several months off. I fixed it. Later the daughter saw and started crying. Apparently the date was the last one her mother had set it to before she died. FML

This is why you don't touch people's things when you're working at their house. Def YDI!

YDI, although it was a good gesture, you shouldn't mess with stuff at other people's houses especially if it's a client's.

I hope you at least learned something from this. Don't beat yourself up too bad OP.

sliding calender? what? that poor person.

I don´t know what your job was in that place, I imagine you as a handyman or the like. But the point is that at least I always feel a bit uncomfortable when allowing craftspeople into my house. Not because I think of them of as thiefs or something like that, but because I see this as an invasion of my privacy. I allow you into my house and give you a credit of trust, assuming that you touch what you need to touch in order to fulfill your task AND NOTHING ELSE. You don´t open my cabinets, you don´t eat my food and you don´t cut back my bonsai for me, end of story. As a nurse I don´t start crushing the pimples on your back unasked either, just because I see them during a physical inspection. There is a german proverb, basically saying "The opposite of good is spelled ´Good intentions´.

but.. what if they had no idea of knowing?.... no? they knew damn well the person died and shouldn't have messed with the calendar!!! am I right? :( I'm so confused....

That sucks, but on the other hand you could have mentioned or brought it up so they would've been able to react and tell you why

That's horrible. :( I'm sure you didn't mean any harm, but you should still ask before doing so.

... you don't touch other people's things.... what's wrong with you!

It all depends on the work they were doing if they deserve it or not, something like cleaning house could lead to an fml but other things might lead to a ydi
