Today, I was going through airport security. As my bags were being scanned, I was told that I was selected for extra searching. Right as the security guard was about to frisk me, he froze up and asked me, "You're a male, right?" I am, and I used to think that it was obvious. FML

They probably have to ask that. Just for good measure, though, make sure your hair is short.

lol I agree with #4. :) I wouldn't sweat it. Like everyone else said, it's probably just part of his routine. And if it's not, maybe he was asking so he didn't poke the wrong places. XD;

I get asked that all the time, and I am quite obviously male.

i dont think it was meant to be an insult, they prob have to ask everyone, cuz there are such things as sex changes and its a law that if you're a woman u can only be frisked by a woman so thats probably why

Don't worry he mightve had a bad experience by running into a tranny

That is the kind of question you shouldn't answer. Just stare at them, unflinchingly, with a look of contempt on your face, until they appologize.

Hahaha oh dear :) I hope you didn't have an identity crisis.

I think that these days everyone is so afraid of getting sued or in trouble for something that they're constantly trying to cover their asses. Maybe the guard was asking just to cover his butt. Back in middle school (for example) everyone was getting Hepatitis vaccines and one question they had to ask everyone EVERYONE) was 'are you pregnant?' and one of the boys jokingly said 'yes', so they denied him the shot until the next clinic. It's stupid ass-covering but some people feel it's necessary. Also, at the tattoo parlour I work at we have to talk about no smoking or drug use in our aftercare and previous to receiving work. I always feel like a clod saying this to some of our younger clients because they have parents for consent there and it makes them nervous to hear it in case they get the third degree, but it's something I have to do. OP, don't feel as offended as it may have seemed, maybe he was just doing his legal duty to not be accused of sexual harassment.
