The indoctrination in the room

Today, I'm a church girl. I grew up believing Christ is my savior and He still is, and I could not live peacefully without Him, but then I started falling in love with a girl, which is clearly written in the Bible to be wrong. I don't know what to do because all I ever want is to love this girl completely. FML

Bullshit. Leviticus has a bunch of rules, but even 'do not lay with a man' is HEAVILY mistranslated--it actually means something like 'don't cheat in your wife's bed'. You know what Jesus said was the entire point of those laws? Love thy neighbor, which is loving God. You genuinely love this girl. If your church can't figure out that's what Jesus meant, they clearly can't ******* READ, because he damn well spelled it out--go find someone who actually is literate. I recommend Unitarian Universalists; they're good folks over there, and they actually live out what Jesus said by helping people with not just individual problems but deep systemic ones. Seriously. If your church can't ******* READ, that's not your problem, that's theirs. You go on and be in love, because THAT is what Jesus wants.

Hi, I'm really sorry you're going through this. (1) Remember, Christian teaching emphasizes that we are all created in God's image, so your feelings are natural and a part of the human experience God envisioned. (2) The Bible was written not by God but by humans who were influenced by the norms and knowledge of their time. It encourages us to approach it with a critical mind, considering the possibility that it carries the imperfections of human understanding of God's words and interpretation. (3) The Bible wasn't originally written in English (It was primarily written in Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek) and has undergone numerous translations, possibly altering its initial meanings. Some argue that the passages often cited to condemn homosexuality are either mistranslated or misinterpreted, and that they don't explicitly refer to loving, consensual same-sex relationships as we understand them today. I hope you find peace and resolution that brings you happiness. Take care.

There is nothing I am aware of that Jesus is actually recoded as saying anything about being gay. The only prohibition (?) against that comes from the Old testament. Be a Christian if that’s who you are - Follow what Jesus is actual quoted as saying, not what others say.

Not quite true, there's a bunch of stuff in Romans too.

Romans (and Hebrews) was written by Paul (Saul of Tarsus) - Not by Jesus. Paul, by his own admission never knew Jesus when he was alive and performing his ministries. The Gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke have Jesus’s recorded words. The Gospel of John also claims to have Jesus’s words, but is substantially different from the other three gospels - I personally don’t trust the Gospel of John for that reason when it comes to differences between it and the other 3. But even the Gospel of John says nothing that I am aware of about being gay. If you want to be a Christian - Follow Jesus’s actual teachings, not what others say.

Hebrews 8:13 says the old Covenant is canceled for the new covenant in Christ (meaning Christians aren't bound by the rules set forth in the Old Testament, but we should still live good lives as Christians), Luke 10:27-28 is Jesus giving us the most important commandment (Love God and love your neighbor). The Lord knew and accepted you before you were born, if He didn't want you to love a certain way, He wouldn't have made you as you are.

OK the only thing that was said about homosexuality was actually mistranslated.. the translation says man shall not lie with man.. but the original text was man shall not lie with BOYS. It was talking about pedophilia, not homosexuality. If god created everything to be perfect, then how did we end up with gay animals? You are you. You love who you love. Just no kiddy diddling and you're good to go. Take care!

in case you really need to hear it, god is fake and love is real. **** him and go **** her!

hey, sorry to hear about your troubles. I’ve always been confused as well on what is right but I have to say that the Bible is the answer. if you learn to read it right through the help of the Holy Spirit then you will gain wisdom. but if you read it as dead letter then you won’t get any understanding. The Bible is written by men through the influence and inspiration of God. I always use to go based off what others thought but I encourage you to pray before reading and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to you what your asking. ppl might say we don’t need the Bible to have a relationship with the father but this is the way he speaks to us so don’t get caught up in opinions. Gods word is meant to be read precept upon precept, line upon line, a little bit here and there. meaning you can’t just read one book without the precepts found in many of the other books. this is why I believe the Bible to be true because even if it’s been tampered with, you have to believe that God is all powerful, he can protect His word and still get his point across through His Holy Spirit. on one last note, through scriptures we can gain a deeper understand of what forgiveness, love, peace, selflessness and many others. most ppls understanding of love is not the way God intended us to love. love is not an emotion, it is an energy. the most powerful energy we have. you can’t just say you love someone because what does that really mean? God says In scriptures that Charity is the action of love. So by living according to Gods word we can’t just say we love God because we have to show him through our actions and thoughts that we are aligned with his Word, Will, and Way. my example for this if you see a brother or sister in Christ sinning you don’t just mind your business if you love them. No, you hold them accountable and speak up so they do not fall into sin and perish. see love is not just a word we use to describe what we care about because you can say you love a lot of stuff. I love my tv, car, house, donut lol see you can love anything but what does that really mean. In scripture the Holy Spirit will reveal the deeper meanings and definitions of words according to Gods will not mans. lastly if you have to cuss to get your point across like the comment from “I have the power” then do you really have a deeper understanding of love, The Lord tells us we need to be careful of what comes out of our mouths and is not associated with uncleanliness. now this doesn’t mean the Holy Spirit is not with that person but to gain a deeper relationship with the father we must become less of ourselves and more like Jesus. anyways keep praying for the truth and it will be revealed to you. and read scriptures and have faith in Gods Word. Word= truth, what is truth? Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. so Jesus is the Word engrafted into flesh. in the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God. 1john 1:1. Gods word is amazing and I pray you can get your answer and a deeper understanding of his Wisdom. God bless and keep seeking Him daily through his Word . amen

The Torah (the first five books of what Christians call the Old Testament) doesn't say anything about lesbianism. It just forbids men from having sex with each other. You're good.

So find a progressive church that doesn’t give a damn if you’re gay. I’m not sure if there is one near you but give it a try.

Christianity is a fear based, controlling, violent religion. Start to think for yourself and you can still love Christ and be one of the good Christians (vs one of thooooose Christians). Be who you are. Love who you love. Do you really think God is going to send you to hell for loving another woman but allow a cold blooded murderer or a child molester in heaven because they're "sorry?" No. The Bible is a book written by men and it says all men are liars Romans 3:1-8. It has also been translated, re translated, re translated, translated again, and re translated off that. it is *not even close* to how it was originally written. oh and it teaches you things like how to own slaves and oppresses women so it's not exactly the most moral book now is it?
