I didn't realize only Americans ate pizza and donuts.
that's not supportive! just remember your long term goal! snack on something healthy like an apple. they're sweet too! hopefully that helps your sweet tooth and will help you toward your long term goal. good luck!!

Couldn't have said it better myself. YOU are the one choosing to change your eating habits. It is up to YOU to restrain yourself. It sucks and it's tough, but it does get easier. Not letting yourself eat half a pizza or passing on something you normally eat too much of becomes normal and, eventually, it doesn't make you sad. And, frankly, I am against "going on diets". I think they're stupid and often make the issue worse. Change your eating habits in general. Instead of eating something like donuts for breakfast, go with scrambled eggs with goat cheese. Instead of pizza, go with a chicken wrap with all kinds of fresh veggies in them. They don't actually have to be bland, super healthy options like plain oatmeal and grilled chicken breast like I see some people eat when they are trying to "eat healthy". Their food always seems so sad. You can do a lot for yourself by just upgrading your whole diet to fresher foods, reducing the processed garbage in your diet, and looking for new recipes that pack in the flavor by using real foods rather than processed. Good luck. I know how hard it can be to start because I've been there, but once you get a couple of months in and you start really feeling and seeing the changes in your body and other people start to notice, it can really help encourage you to keep going.
OP can't expect them to change their own diet but, as her parents, they could also. have chosen not to be completely unsupportive on the first day.

Well, to be fair, your diet choices are yours, you can't really expect the whole family to adapt the way they're eating. If you want a healthy dinner, maybe offer to cook?
If that is the kind of dinner your family usually eats, I doubt that they are the best people to support you on your diet. Good luck, OP! Stick to your diet. Maybe you can inspire your family to loose weight for their own health as well.
Maybe they're testing your resolve ? To be honest most people start diets with unrealistic goals considering they've never done it for an extended period of time. But I hope your dieting goes well and try to keep in mind that you can't expect them to want to participate as well. Also, a light workout regiment usually does wonders with a well balanced diet.
Tip of advice: don't diet. Dieting is bad, especially for a younger person. Try to just eat healthier, or cut things out. If you cut out gluten and sugar, I can guarantee you success in weight loss. I've done it, and everybody in my family has.

If you go run after you eat just a little bit of that, the. You should be fine. Just not too much. If your dieting for a competition tho, might not wanna touch it
