Today, I am six months pregnant and have been lactating. When I noticed this and pointed it out to my husband, I jokingly stated that I felt like a cow. He then replied. "Oh, you're not a cow. At most you're just a fat pig." He still has no clue why I'm upset. FML

I know it's her hormones making her so upset. Everybody knows a pregnant woman (actually, most women) get super upset when their husband (or anyone) calls them fat. OP's husband should've known, too.

Batten down the hatches. Pregnant woman alert! Run! Save yourselves

Oh, t_c, I thought your sarcasm detector was more highly-tuned than that. Calling someone a "fat pig" is an obvious and cliché remark. It's very low-brow humor used by hacks.

C'mon, people, get real, no one ever liked to be called a fat pig, male or female, pregnant or not. I thought Captain Obvious could have the day off on this one, but evidently not.

But the least he could have done was say I was just kidding. If he didn't get why she is upset then it's his fault.

17- lol her husband is not Jesus to know everything...it's like when girls don't know when to stop bitching..

Lol I'm 5 and a half months pregnant with a boy and my husband gets slightly insensitive like that sometimes. But I know he loves me to death and I love him to death and I know he doesn't mean anything serious. He loves the fat me and calls me voluptuous.

Moobug 4

Writergirl, he sounds very considerate. My husband could tell when I was hormonal or not by the time I was six months pregnant, and he used this to his advantage by being an ass when I could tolerate it. For example, the time he steered me out of the dessert aisle in the supermarket, saying "no, no no... no more pie for you, Fatso!" He got high-fived by a complete stranger. A fellow Dad-to-be, by the looks of his partner, but still!

Perdix, it's not that I didn't recognize the sarcasm, it's that I recognize (as OP's husband should have) that any negative comment toward a pregnant woman will result in being put in the dog house. Humor is great in almost any situation--almost.

My boyfriend calls me voluptuous too. But I'm not pregnant. What's the difference between fat and voluptuous anyway?

If he doesn't know, tell him. Yes, it should be obvious, but moping and whining online fixes nothing.

But then how would FML be the blossoming 'whine' vineyard that provides us with such wondrous humor?

Oh never insult a woman, especially if she's pregnant... OP give him hell.

sorry idk why that posted twice. stupid app -.-

Well She was fishing for a compliment but still no excuse to call her a fat pig

118- OP was not fishing for a compliment; she was just jokingly comparing herself to a cow because she was lactating.

52- I believe it's spelt, who-gives-a-shit?

57 - You know, the people that actually paid attention in basic writing classes back in elementary school, those people.

56: no, it's spelt "you're." as in, you're a moron.

Repost. There was a similar FML not too long ago, just worded differently.

No surprise. There are a lot of clueless expecting dads, that say things to sensitive mommies to be. (:

79 are right. Being a woman is something a man can not comprehend completely, vast difference in hormonal level and physically activities in the girls, so it's not always easy for both the parents :)

It must've been a joke if he truly has no idea why you're mad. Don't be so sensitive OP, I'm sure he loves you and will become a great father.

He probably meant it in a you're not as fat as a cow! Maybe a pig at most! As in you're not as fat as you're making yourself out to be. While it was a very silly comment to make I doubt there was any nastiness intended!

theevilduchess 12

You don't joke with pregnant women. Not ever.

Maddidaddi 0

He was just joking around. Pigs are smaller than cows anyway, that's what he was trying to say. YDI.

Yea I'm pretty sure this is the Internet not a essay I'm writing for college spelling doesn't matter… what's next? Are you guys gonna talk about how indented or how this is one sentence?

cajekraze 7

Have a f___ing sense of humor. He's not trying to be mean, he's just making light of your situation. Women need to learn to laugh more

107: You go to school so you can apply basic things like grammar to your life. Otherwise, English class was a big waste of time. As I see it was for a lot of people.

107: if you knew you made errors in your comment, why bother posting it?

Why is op upset?? Her husband was just being honest jeez

115-That is probably the dumbest logic I've heard in a while. When you get pregnant and your husband starts calling you fat, while your emotions are out of whack, come back to us with the same statement. I gurantee you'll have a different opinion.

111 You're an idiot. The term cow refers to 'fat' while pig refers to 'fat and ugly'. That's the common meanings outside of them being the names of animals. Of course she'd be upset.

You really think I was serious?? What girl would want to be called fat. Oh right I totally forgot this world ran out of a sense of humor!

livenatso 10

How did you expect people to be able to tell that you were using humour?

Agreed. I hate people who have nothing better to do with they're (yes, that was just to piss everyone off) lives than correct other people's spelling. Stop being such pretentious pigs and get a life!

I hate it when people fork my mortars, it just ruins the whole day

Yes, divorce him while pregnant over a stupid comment. Your plan is sheer brilliance.

Why would you divorce someone who only called you a fat pig, it's called a sense of humor. Gee , where's the faith these days!!?

mhopper 13

Divorce for that? How about you just *accidentally* throw up on him instead?

#2 - I thumbed you up because I fell out of my chair laughing when I read "mortar forker".

mintcar 9

No wonder the divorce rate is so high, people give up and divorce over the stupidest shit. Yes, she's allowed to feel angry/upset and he deserves to be in the dog house- but a divorce? Over this?

The amount of people on here that think the same as TheSofaKing amazes me.

Sofaking- that would be so stupid for op to divorce over. Unless, her husband said those kind of things all the time to the point it was mental abuse.... And docbastard who cares if a women is pregnant when she gets a divorce? It may not be easy to be a single mother but people do it. So, stfu.

97 - That profile pic suits your comment well. Rat seems like the perfect mascot for all the normal commenters here!

97 - Who the F do you think you are telling doc bastard to stfu. Your crime is too grave, even worse than that of the moron saying to get a divorce. Off to the bottomless hole with you, may no one ever hear from you again!

97 You think people would choose to be a single mother? The only time a woman would 'choose' to be a single mother (if she's in her right mind) would be if it was for the better, e.g. The father is a drunk, or a drug addict etc. Children were meant to have two parents, not one. Now take your head out of your ass and do something productive for once in your life, and quit spewing stupidity on a topic you obviously know nothing about.

Lol get divorced for saying something stupid xD...shit happen u don't need to divorce for 1 small joke..

Never did I say people should want I choose to raise children alone, but if its for the better of the child then they should. What I mean is that while being a child I would rather not has as much money as other kids with two parents than being the reason for two people whom hate each other being together. And yes, I have as much right to tell docbastard to shut up as you do to me.

jannielovesjack - you have every right to tell me to shut up if you're right, which you are not. You really think that the only thing a child of a single parent misses out on is a second income? REALLY? You don't have any ******* idea what it takes to raise children. Get a clue, then tell me to shut up.

Guess we know who's going to die an old maid.

^ go tell a pregnant woman she's a fat pig and tell me how that works out for you.

Us guys are clueless to women's pain. Sorry OP you'll have to excuse us

Not all of us are clueless, some just don't care. xD

KiddNYC1O 20

How about when they channel that pain when they grip your hand during labor?

Maybe he said that because you joked about being a cow, so he felt it was okay to joke his joke.

hormones or not that joke was mean and not at all witty

hormones or not that joke was mean and not at all witty

It's never ok to joke about a woman's stature, if you want to stay with her anyway

klimp 0

He sounds like a comedic genius

Yes, perfect solution! Or the husband can be a little bit more understanding about the situation? And still lead a happily after married life with her and the baby whenever she's due?
