Memories

By Anonymous - This FML is from back in 2012 but it's good stuff - United States - Gainesville

Today, I asked my husband if he knew what day it was. His answer was, "Garbage day?" It's our six-year anniversary. FML

Men tend to forget days like these. While he definitely should have tried harder at remembering, this is not an uncommon thing.

Thank you for the clear explanation. I never would have guessed that men tend to forget anniversaries, especially since there are no pop culture references to such a thing ever happening. I feel so enlightened because of you!

Maybe, just maybe, he was trying to surprise her. I've done the same thing. Of course, she was just a girlfriend, where I assume op and him are married. Anyway, I hope you thumb this down because of my opinion.

If the OP has a forgetful husband, it might have been wiser to remind him a few days in advance.(circle the calendar, etc...) Why set herself up to be let down and have the day ruined? BTW not all guys are bad at remembering anniversaries. Many have it embedded in their brains that that is the day for amazing sex.

23- There's no need to be a smart ass about it.

47, that's a pretty good assumption considering the post says "husband"

Maybe they're both right! A day can be two things!

18 - damn looks like I'm famous now. Nice profile pic

Yeah kick him out because he forgot one day. *sarcasm* A yearly anniversary might be important, but honestly it doesn't matter. If you love the person you would be showing it constantly, not needing to remember one day every year to celebrate how you are still together. But this is important to many people, so I guess you should make them happy and try to remember.

Honestly I don't see why 23 got downvoted so much. It's an honest enough fact and a little sarcasm is always entertaining ^_^

There are too many days to remember like birthdays, holidays, anniversaries, appointments, etc.

I think he probably knows but was joking around. I would have went along with it. Maybe he's planning something really special for her. That's why he's playing dumb.

That seems very unnessisary just for forgetting a date

Why? Because he's human? Everybody forgets things, dumping him for that would just be stupid...

But you guy's have to see it from #4's perspective for why he thinks OP should throw him out. Mario always saves the princess but what does he get? A damn kiss on the nose. So, #4 remembers everything about Peach, since he is Mario. He thinks lowly of people who have great things and don't deserve it because he doesn't have great things when he, Mario, deserves it. Now you get why #4 wants OP's husband thrown out? It's all because of a horrible background.

Damn it, Sassy. Look at it from my perspective. Mario is an Asshole. He treats me like shit, he smells like shit, he acts like shit, thinks he's entitled to have me because he saves me. Basically, he's a total shit wrapped in fettuccine and cannoli. It's hard ruling the ******* Mushroom Kingdom without a ******* turtle kidnapping me.

Throwing him out is an over reaction to forgetting a date.

It's a shame men forget days like that

Not everyone can remember these things. Maybe he did remember and it slipped his mind.

To be honest there are so many anniversaries..some people go crazy over the 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, every damn month, 1 year, 2..3..4.. So on. Everyday should be filled with happiness and special with your significant other. Everyday should be treated like an anniversary. If everyday is like that life would be bliss..yeah unfortunately that's never the case :(

Women forget important days too, sometimes. I know I have. It's unfair to assume that it's only men who do that... no one is perfect.

Men don't forget days like these. People do. Some people remember, some people don't. Women just make a bigger deal out of it when men forget.

Men are simple minded, along with some women. Don't be upset OP, I'm sure he loves you and is happy to be with you after all these years.

Maybe he's playing a trick on you and has a romantic evening planned out? I hope thats the case. Sorry OP.

Maybe he's pretending to not remember because he wants to surprise you with something special later. =)

You'd think he'd remember, after six years...

Hrm not really. I still have trouble remembering my brothers birthday and that has happened about 22 times now .

Get him a seemingly very expensive gift, and then ask where's yours.

Sawarski 13

That just seems like a waste of money.

Or OP could act like a grown adult and not a petty 15 year old.

Trying to gain the upper hand like that turns a relationship into a power game where there will always be a winner an a loser. I hope you grow from that line of thinking and try kindness instead. After all, you should work on being a team, right?
