Today, I was helping out at my church. At lunchtime, a really cute guy my age walked over and told me I was pretty. I was flattered, until I turned around and saw his annoyed buddies handing him several dollar bills. FML

I dunno. I thought that could've been it, but why would they make the guy bet money on saying it? "Hey, I'll give you $5 if you admit you think she's pretty"? I dunno; doesn't seem right.

I never thought of it this way, but you could definitely be right. Don't be so hard on yourself OP. You don't know the full story! Maybe they just thought he didn't have the guts to go compliment a girl because he's shy.

I agree. This could be a guy who is usually too shy to do something like that. It seems like an odd bet, and far too easy, if it was a "Hit on the ugly girl" situation. That usually involves dating and such. Bet ya $5 their bet was "I bet you, you aren't brave enough to talk to that girl over there" or something to that extent.

Idk I've dared a friend to talk to a really good looking man before, he might have been sincere. But he's sounds like he was probably an immature asshole so I wouldn't care what a guy like that thought about my looks!
