Show it anywayYes. Yes you are the only one.
I wouldn't be able to eat ANYTHING for a while after seeing that.
Deciding on whether that's cool af, or disgusting... but besides that, thanks for all you do OP!
It's disgusting, 46.
I agree. It is disgusting and I'm also currently eating soup so I can see why he was a little grossed out!
Any particular reason why they'd need an ambulance crew for a dead person?
How else are they supposed to transport the dead body?
Ambulances are usually the way dead bodies are transported, unless the remains are skeletal and they're going to like a forensic coroner. But most of them end up at the coroner by ambulance.
Wow I've never seen a comment with so many thumbs down.

That was super vivid. Gross.:X
A water balloon with bones? Now THAT'S gross.
I had vivid mental images due to watching walking dead.
this is dinnertime conversation around my house. Yay for having my dad be a medic -_- my uncle is a cop so dinner when he's over... I guess they think its gory story time.
"Could I have some elephant shit juice to go with that?" -Bear Grylls
This is the first fml that has made me want to puke
Oh man, your picture goes perfectly with your comment
Shouldn't the ambulance probably have told you more, before they sent you up?
The ambulance cannot speak fluent English, hence the lack of information ~
I have had to do that job before. No, all they tell you is its a body. They never go into details. The worst i saw was a 280 man (according to his drivers license) that had been dead for months. He was about 60 pounds and in the middle of his bed when i got there. The only way we could get a time of death was by the generations of blotted flies in the windows. The smell was so bad we had to use scba gear to get him out. When we aired the house out, people next door got sick and threw up. Then promptly left their home for a few days.
O_O
134- not weak minded at all. Weak stomached perhaps. And just because you're accustomed to dealing with revolting corpses doesnt mean OP is or should be.
51, Paramedic..
That's really sad. No one noticed he was dead that long? That's one of my fears.
I never found out anything about his family. Unless people actually live with you, its not unusual to go several weeks before someone makes a welfare call to the police. I have had to do a few of them. Most of the time the person just answers the door and I ended up looking like I was just making up an excuse to knock on their door. *Knock knock* *A few seconds go by and they answer* Me; " Uh hi... I was wondering if you feel alright." Stranger "Yes, why?" Me; "You mommy said to say she loves you. She also said you should call her more often. Well, goodbye."
If he was already dead, they were a tad bit late for saving his life...
Man Up Marsha. Rescue Lt. NREMT-P

Sounds like someone's a bit bitter..
It is part of the job- period. Bodies are part of what you picked as your profession. Put on your shields and soldier through, was my point. Take a hot shower and leave the dead guys at the station. If you want to wear the cape and the cowl of an EMS provider, you have to be able to emotionally insulate yourself from the darker calls. FML because a call ruined my GF's dinner is attention seeking behavior and weak sauce.
140, Of course it's part of the job description. But if you can handle seeing that and eat something that reminds you of it the same day, then A) You've seen it a lot and can handle it a bit more, or B) You're just not a normal person and should go see a therapist to resolve why you feel that way.
116, I was talking to 7 who said "NREMT-P" P=paramedic. I love my medics - no snarky here. They're busy trying to determine whether the guy is having an acute myocardial infarction with ST elevation, or tasked with injecting just the right amount of paralytic in order to perform a rapid sequence intubation - I'm tasked with managing to get them down the stairs without dropping them, and maybe give them some oxygen. I think I do a lot better than that, but to be frank anything serious and the medics come out. But occasionally you get a medic who volunteers to grab your bag for you - and that is a fantastic thing. That said, if I was a medic on this call, I'd pronounce him and leave the lifting to BLS. And as an EMT I wouldn't blame them... haha. Frankly I'd probably call the fire department. Oh, and I do volunteer EMS for fun, thanks. No need to cast aspersions on my character. To do it for money I'd have to take a pay cut of about 70%
That's just... Well, your description made my tummy turn like no other fml ever before. Where's the pegi rating for this?
If never eat soup again.
You're so observant.
#8, I can't stop laughing at your comment. I read it over an hour ago and it won't leave my mind. I don't think I've laughed this much ever. I know for certain that I haven't found anything funny since I was put on the list for a heart transplant. I'm not supposed to be chuckling like this but "eat your soup" hit me in just the right way. Let's hope you haven't killed me. Lol!! And thank you. :D
Either 39 is being super sarcastic, or he likes you because of your comment, and likes you more for your hydra profile pic
He's dead. Why feel sorry for him? His troubles are over. OP will never look at soup the same again; this will take years of counseling, rehab, and shock therapy to get over.
I agree with you dalink. I don't know if it's just me, but I don't usually feel bad for people who have died. I sympathize more with their loved ones, because they're the ones that feel that pain. Death is just the next step of life. As for the children, that's different. No one that young should ever have to go through an experience like that. That is a truly tragic case.
Dead people don't feel anything - what's the point in feeling sorry for them? Their bodies are dead. Maybe the way they died is sad, but feeling sorry for them after the fact is a lot like feeling sorry for a rock. Or a bowl of soup, for that matter.
Really? There's not even the slightest bit of comparison here. I'm sorry, but since when does someone have to be breathing, for us to show compassion? That is complete and total none-sense. I don't care if a person is 5 or 50, if you've died tragically, young, suffering or anything else, besides old and from natural causes, I will always feel sorry. (Maybe not if the person is some kind of malicious human being) but to criticize me for having compassion, makes you an ignorant asshole. People jumped all over me for calling pregnant women whiners, yet come on and compare the deceased to rocks? That makes a lot of sense.
That sucks! I'm in health aswell so I've had to deal with some dead bodies that put me off certain foods for a few days but after a while you don't really mind anymore :) Keep on saving lives :)
