Today, my fiancé and I both got fired from a job we desperately needed. Why? A friend had practiced sticking him for a phlebotomy class, so he had bandaids on his arms. I was nervous and shaky, as it was my first day. Apparently, this means that we are both IV drug users. FML

OP here. The job was at Subway, so they really don't care about firing and hiring people enough to follow up with a drug test. We both offered! I have a great PT job at a doctor's office, but really needed extra income because COVID hit us hard. I was really surprised that they just randomly fired both of us over an assumption! WTF. The manager is a recovered addict and said she knew the signs. Umm, no, apparently you don't. We don't even have the money to DO drugs lol! Now we have no power. But still have a roof. **** 2020.

Go back ASAP find the HIGHEST ranking person in the business either the owner or store manager. explain to him/her about everything. tell them you are both willing to take a drug test to prove it. Yes some jobs/businesses can fire someone for using drugs but they have to have proof(either a failed test or visually see you using) of you using drugs to fire you for that reason or it is Unlawful Termination and you can go after the company for that.

Practice for a phlebotomy class? Sounds like your bf could literally get a doctors note. You too for anxiety. I agree with everyone else demand a drug test. That really sucks :(

I wear bandaids until they are ready to come off. I’ve never liked pulling them off, so I always wait for the adhesive to wear down.

Yeah, but we also had bruises. She was learning, so kinda missed our veins. So even without the bandaids there were needle marks and bruises. The things I do for my friends...

EXACTLY! Or would have tried to hide it. My friend even called and explained that she had practiced on us. Ridiculous.

Oh damn, not just the United States, but the very WORST part of the United States. I just got done helping some friends move away from Florida forever. Florida is the only reason I'm torn on global warming. On the bad side, the oceans will rise. On the good side, most of Florida will be gone.

Find a Lawyer! most law firms do a free initial consultation where you can sit down with a lawyer tell them everything that happened and see if you have any legal recourse. It is worth the couple of hours it would take to see if there is any way you can do about the lost income you and your other half have lost because the manager "knows the signs" because she is a "recovered addict"(which truly does not exist) because an addict NEVER Recovers. I am 20 years sober from Meth, speed and cocaine and i have to fight the urges daily still.
