Not tonight, I have a headache.
I feel you. I've suffered from chronic migraines since I was two years old. If it doesn't stop, ask your doctor about prevention meds... such as flunarizine. Instead of 4-5 a week I get 1-3 a month and daily headaches.
The problem with that is that it's only one migraine a month (or, you know, three and a half months). It's all the same migraine. My neurologist says the preventative meds will only help once this long term one stops. :( I'm sorry that you have to deal with it at all, though.
My doctor also prescribed low-grade painkillers, because regular advil or ibuprofen didn't work
see about getting put on topamax. I get maybe 3 migraines a month and unless I'm exposed to one of my triggers in a major way no headaches
oh no! migraines are the worst!! try taking naproxen and placing cold packs on your head and neck and DEFINITELY see a doctor
naproxen does nothing for me for my daily migraines. excedrin migraine helps some but you can only take 2 in 24 hours. they always come back
a fifteen week long migraine? please tell me you've seen a professional, cause that sounds like something definitely isn't right
One generalist, two neurologists, four types of medications, and blood tests..
It took forever for drs to figure out my migraines, turns out I have Occipital Neuralgia not migraines, and none of the regular migraine treatments work because ON is a nerve issue, once I got meds for nerve pain it helped some, and nerve blocks were amazing relief. Moving messed it all up, waiting ti get back started with a new dr, and been having bad headaches for a few months now... I feel your pain. Good luck OP! If you get nowhere with neurologists see if you can be seen at a pain management clinic
Op, whenever this happens to me, it's normally because I'm hungry and need some food, plus I didn't have enough sleep the night before. Make sure u eat enough and sleep well and that will help for sure
Uh, I think it's more complicated than that. It sounds like you're talking about a regular headache. Migraine is much different.
Migraneurs have specific triggers. Hunger, thirst, sleep deprivation and exhaustion can all act as a trigger. What's not normal is a migraine lasting 15weeks, but OP says she's been to a neurologist, so he'll figure out what to do. OP, maybe a brain MRI? Other headaches may mimic migraines sometimes, so just to rule out anything else. (Yes, I'm a doctor, but your neurologist is better qualified than me to make that call. Just suggesting you ask about it).)
Gotten the MRI. No brain tumors, huzzah! The other piece of good news is that the drugs I'm on are supposed to combat the migraine long-term, and if this doesn't work, there's three more things he can prescribe. Thanks for the concern! :)
That's a relief! I hope something works so you're better soon. :)
I feel your pain.. I'm on week three
Good luck! *Internet hugs*
Please tell me that you've gotten imaging and an EEG done. That is definitely not a normal migraine.
MRI, yes. EEG no-- the latter has never come up. I'd be interested to see the results. The very scary thing is that before last May, I've never had a migraine in my life. The neurologist says it's not common, but he's treated other patients who've dealt with this for years, not months. Right now I'm sleeping a lot and doing some light programming work from my bed. Never thought I'd have wanted to get up and clean things so much.
Great you did an MRI and saw a neuro. I suddenly started having migraines at the age of 20 but i do have a history of migraines in the family and apparently it may be genetic...rest and staying in dark places can help so is not looking at screen and your phone for long hours. Certain foods can also trigger your migraine as they cause vasodilatation. Get well soon
I would mention an EEG to your neuro, then. There could be something that disrupts the electrical signals in your brain. Also maybe mention seeing a vascular specialist of some kind. Most true migraines are caused by over dilated arteries. I've been living with epilepsy and migraines for 11 years. It can be tough, but I get through it. You'll do the same. I have faith that you will.
I sure hope it wasn't a relationship anniversary.. What kind of sad sack would ever celebrate 15 weeks??
Hahaha! Well, my husband probably would. He's a total sap. :D
Feel your pain! I have chronic migraines and they can be so hindering and painful! Do consult a specialist you don't need to stay in pain! They can prescribe medicine to help reduce the attacks at least and the severity. Get well soon!
