That is so awful... but really hilarious. Definitely something that would have happened to me. I don't have a text messaging plan either, and yet people text me alllllll the time. I usually have to pay $5-10 extra a month for stuff I can't control.
Call customer care and tell them to put a texting block on your phone. That's the only way to stop it. You can't get a credit for the amount you pay every month since it is a recurring charge, and you are aware of it. Text opt out doesn't cost you anything. (I work for AT&T's customer care so that's how I know.)
How can you not have a texting plan? Are you an 80 year old?
I'm pretty sure if you did a good job and the boss had no reason to fire you, you can file for unemployment and he has to pay you a certain amount for a year.
I was so confused by this at first, over here we don't have to pay to receive messages, only to send them. It must be awful if you have no credit or money to receive them, especially if it's important
Go into work and pretend like you never got the text message. If he asks about it just play dumb. Then, if he actually fires you, burn the building down
freaky !!
I agree sending your boss a bill for not only the text message, but your time as well. I also do not think that you can be fired via text. I am pretty sure since you do not have a text messaging plan you could still come in to work and receive that last extra day of pay, since you "never got the message".
Go back and negotiate a severance. Don't forget to ask for the .25!
I'm fairly certain that you cannot be fired via text - unless it's an "under the table" kind of job. you must be given verbal or written notice. I would go in and demand written notice -- and of course, your .25.

If that's not BS and is real, I'm sorry man, that really sucks.
