Yes they are actually in this case, if you work for an airline you should have some smarts in geography, or at least know cities and States.

OP doesn't say if the flight was from America or another place. In ontario, american History isnt taught until grade 11 which is optional. So people who don't know what cities or states are what in the USA doesn't make them stupid.

Ohio may be different, but I learned American history in 5th grade. Now mind you as a 5th grader, I didn't really care about learning about history, and we only got to the end of the Revolutionary War as well. In 8th grade we learned again American history and went past the Reconstruction Era. So California may have a different curriculum than Ohio.

yeah. I'm from Washington. I live in Atlanta. so I get asked what state I'm from and immediately I get D.C. as a response. I'm really getting tired of saying that's not a state.

@38 Really? W/ 50 states and gagillions of cities, there are going to be similarities. Especially with cities named after historical figures (Fayetteville, NC, Ak, etc) or named after regions in England or where-ever some of the regional settlers were from.
