Hey guys OP here! Unfortunately I live in Texas and license plates are required on both front and back of vehicles :( He was driving illegally hence why he hit me and took off, the cop also said he was texting since I was parked whenever he hit my car, the trunk is dented in from the back and top is caved since he was driving a lifted SUV and I can no longer open it without causing further damage Thanks for the concern, i am fine ?

That's some BS. Hopefully there wasn't much damage to your vehicle. Happened to my brother but since the other driver, the retard, didn't brake in time, he hit hit the back of my brother's car. Luckily my brother's car didn't really suffer any damage as he had the bigger vehicle, so the other driver, the retard, took off with the damage.
Just a bad day
Hopefully they can identify the driver and add the license plate issue to the driving off without giving details.
Not all states require front license plates. I only have a rear plate since that's all they send you here. In fact most cars sold in this state don't even have mounts for front plates. Still, that sucks, hope there wasn't too much damage and that you're OK.

That question mark is actually an emoji smiley face but... oops
Hi OP! In Australia, if you have car insurance and you're hit by an illegal driver, a hit-and-run driver, and/or you're not at fault; Your insurance company will pay for the repair without charging an excess (assuming you filed a police report; which you did). Is it not the same over your way?
Why didn’t you look at the back of his car? The officer could have looked the make and model of the car to figure out who was driving. Of course that would have taken a while and more paperwork. I live in Texas too and the people in my area get pulled over when there is only one license plate.
