Sue the company!
Was your car part of the airbag recall?
You know I am sorry that your car was defective and I would contact the manufacturer. It's cheaper because you don't have to pay for a lawyer and the company generally will give you more as hush money, However, be happy! You could have easily died from that but you walked away with just a bruised face. Overall you come out ahead because of this.
In order for the air bag to deploy, two sensors have to "see" impact at the same time. If it deployed without impact, which is really rate, you should contact the company. Not to sue, but they need to know.

Now here comes all the comments about how OP has to sue
This is a justified lawsuit though.
