Lost in translation

Today, one of the Haitians that works in the kitchen at my restaurant said something to me. Usually I can't understand them and I just smile and laugh, so that's what I did this time. Later, I found out he was trying to tell me his father had passed away. FML

Bummer. Maybe you should try to understand them better or just be honest and say, "I'm sorry but I just can't understand you; I'm so bad with accents."

i don't care how many times i gotta look stupid repeatedly going "pardon? pardon?" i still gotta know EXACTLY what someone is trying to tell me.

i know how that feels when you cant understand someone and you dont want to be mean to them

If i was the haitian... I'd punch you right in the face!

I do the same thing. I hate asking people what they are saying over and over again.

FYL? FHL. The guy told you his father died and you laughed.

I don't blame you. I can barely understand people they speak normally! :)

I agree theres a guy that lives across the street that got hit by an 18 wheeler and i can barely understand anything he says and i just nod and laugh :/

you're a moron, if you can't understand the poor guy then ask him to repeat what he said, then if you still don't understand apologise and ask him to say it slowly and that you don't understand him :/ that's so ignorant

i totally agree with wicked27 becuase this person doesn't deserve it, something like that could happen to anyone. I know of I didn't understand what someone was saying in another language I'd probably luagh to like I actually knew what they were talking about, I don't know why everyone thinks this person deserves it.
