So? I don't like my job either. I only work there for the paycheck and the insurance.
I think that is commendable that he is making such an effort to stay clean. I don't think you should be disappointed in him but it is disappointing to hear he doesn't enjoy his work. still he's your favourite employee for a reason.
That strategy would work better if he cared about getting fired, but if he doesn't like the job anyway...
