Today, after a full week of turning my house upside-down and being stressed out of my mind, I was informed by my local library that the 'missing' book I'd been trying to find was actually returned a week and a half ago, and they'd forgotten to check it back in. FML

I had this happen to me as a kid. I was kind of a slob and often lost things, but I NEVER lose library books. So when my mom got a call saying a book was overdue, of course she didn't believe me when I said it had been returned. I tore my room apart several different times over the next few months whenever we got another call, and the book just kept racking up fees. Never found it in my house. Because guess what? It was at the library, in their outdoor drop off box. I still don't know if those fees were ever dropped.
