Can't you say things like, "There was a life threatening emergency that had to take priority."? As long as you don't give enough details to identify the person, it should be fine to say stuff like that. Double check with your Charge Nurse or consult a lawyer.
You saved a person's life and I assure you the gratitude from that person and his/her family hugely outweighs the ass chewing you received. You did something awesome!
