Today, my mom booked a family trip to Sweden. This would be great, if she hadn't asked me to tell our former German exchange student that we were coming to visit her in Germany. She was thrilled. Now I have to be the one to let her down. FML

Well maybe you can see another time or tell her to take a trip to Sweden at the same time you will be there :) I hope everything works out for the best OP

Jeez being in those situations are the worst. Whatever u do u feel like shit. Hope they understand OP

Maybe you should teach your mom some geography

The way I understand the FML is that the mother changed her plans and now OP has to tell the german girl that they changed their plans. It was the german exchange student who was thriller to meet them in Germany and now OP has to let her down. I don't thinkOP's mother mixed up Sweden and Germany. I may be wrong though.

You should have her tell the German student

Try to be more creative with your comments. Copying someone else's never helps.

They could take a detour with the flight between Florida and Sweden, if they fly over England going there. Or on the return flight if it isn't booked yet, unless their flight goes over Russia. (Is it safe/possible going over Russia right now?)

Oh OP I'm sure your friend will understand

Well, then... You may want to book some tickets to Germany the following year.

That german girl will defenitely understand that. And if she doesn't? Blame it on your mom haha

I read this FML three times to understand...

Europe is much smaller then the US, and I'm guessing you'll be going to Stockholm or one of the various tourist locations. if so then a boat ride and a short ride to wherever she is in Germany wouldn't take as long as you'd think. Texas is literally the size of the middle of the EU.

>Europe is much smaller then the US You should have consulted Wikipedia at least before writing it: the USA area is 9,857,306 km2 Europe area is 10,180,000 km2

Including Alaska in that? Cause that doesn't sound right, especially from Wikipedia.

Europe is bigger. Don't forget quite large part of Russia is in Europe. Around 40% of Europe is Russia.

I like that user name. Blöde Gans - OP actually used correct German spelling.
