Today, my sister announced she will be getting married in 2 days having never been engaged and just found out she's pregnant. I've been engaged a solid 4 years now and still no marriage plans. FML

So why have you put up with not having had a wedding date set during the past 4 years?! Obviously, he doesn't want to get married, but merely keep you happy by deluding you into thinking that it will soon happen. Is the ring even real? "Kick 'im to the curb" so as to be replaced by a real man, not a wimp who's "getting the milk for (nearly) free." :-( Good luck, OP! :-)

Why is a piece of paper and a ring so important? Are you in love and committed to one another? You know your relationship is built to last so be happy for your sister. I don't know where you live, but in Canada you are already common-law and being married doesn't change anything anyway. I have been with my common-law husband for 10.5 years and have seen my older sister and 2 friends get married and I am about to be a bridesmaid for my baby sister's wedding, still no ring on my finger, but I am content in my relationship, we have 2 wonderful children and a ring and marriage certificate is not necessary to me. It won't make me any happier and it certainly doesn't solidify a relationship. And above all else, make sure you can afford a wedding, starting out a relationship in debt for a wedding is a good lead up to divorce.
