Today, I found out that because I, like many others, don't read the terms and conditions, I accidentally donated £200 to a charity because of a non-refundable payment on a volunteering trip. It's my parents' money. FML

This isn't really a ydi because no one reads the terms and conditions for anything, especially if they're like 30 pages long. It's probably intentionally hidden in the terms and conditions because they know that no one reads them.

Pretty sure this is actually illegal

Only $10 gets to go towards actual help and the rest are "handling" and "administration" fees.

Parent's probably think it was worthwhile for you to spend the money if you we're away for awhile.

This is not legal where I live. Because of shady "businesses" there now has to be a very visible notice explaining exactly how much you have to pay. If it's hidden somewhere and not in plain sight you don't have to pay. Thoroughly check your legal rights!

This reminds me of the episode of south park where they turn Kyle into a humancentiPad because he didn't read the "terms and conditions".
