Today, a man tried to rob the store I work at. Before the guy was taken by the cops, he complained to my manager for "unfriendly behavior". He took it seriously and bitched me out for not providing "quality service" to our customers. FML

He should have left a customer review. "10/10 would rob again".

I know how you feel OP. I work in retail and get yelled at by managers all day long for shitty customers "complaining." don't let it get to you!

I don't understand bosses like that. Do they not understand morals at all? Good customer service is great, but punishing a worker for not doing anything unacceptable is just cruel-hearted.

Is your manager serious? What the hell.

When does the moment come for a manager to replace "The customer is always right" with "My employees are always right"?. Employees are the big asset any company has not customers ..

You can have all the employees you want, but your company is NOTHING without customers. Of course, this doesn't give them the right to be shitty, but still. Customers are definitely in the top 2.

go over his head and feel the supervisor he's dumb

customerssuck (dot) com is a great site for retail venting.

How many times must we tell you, SMILE when you're being robbed! The customer is always right!

Actually, "The customer is always right" was the motto of a now-defunct department store in the U.S. Wonder why it went out of business?

It would have been great if they arrested your boss as well. Some people don't deserve leadership roles. Best advice, document it and tell a co-worker you trust. At least if he pulls that crap again, you'll have some kinda paper trail and a worker that knows. To me, thats worse than the guy that tried to rob you.

Document it and show HR. If your manager is seriously stupid enough to consider a robber a customer and take his complaint seriously, he doesn't deserve the manager position. That is hindering the store, not managing it.
