OP here. For those of you who are curious, I work at a public high school teaching English. The class of interest here was my Advanced Placement English Literature and Composition class (made up of SENIORS). The issue came up because a sample practice objective test I passed out had referenced some biblical stories and a couple of students had questions on it. He still thinks Solomon is in one of his Pokémon games.

I am sad....how can a kid NOT know all the pokemon?! Just because they have added on a few hundred more is no excuse
A FEW hundred?? There's over 600 Pokémon now! I'm pretty sure even the people who love the newer Pokémon can't name them all.
Ugh I can't believe some people mixing up names of pokemon with people. At least I know my Ghandi pokemon will never let me down!
Pssh, Im amazing at parties with my Jesus pokemon. Everyone loves his wine move. It's a crowd gatherer
Ghandi used passive resistance. Empiremon became confused.
King Solomon used Cut. It's super effective!
King Solomon IS a character in the Pokemon Universe. As well as the historical figure you're thinking of. AS the Pokemon wiki says: "King Solomon (ソロモン王, Soromon-ō) is one of the kings in the world of the Arabian Nights who appears in the Secret Rings Saga. He is apparently the king that sealed creatures like the Ifrit Golem in ancient times." It sounds like a conflict between two self-righteous bigots, each with insufficient knowledge, and each insisting that only their viewpoint is right. It's a shame, this could have been a great teaching moment about why they might have chosen to call a Pokemon Universe character by that name. How many of his classmates will come to hate school because their teacher stubbornly refuses to listen to what they're saying?
I think you broke Wikipedia.
So King Solomon is not a Pokemon, Just a character in Pokemon lore....The kid is still wrong and way to into Pokemon to make that connection.
That's not the Pokémon Wiki, that's from some offshoot called the "Sonic Pokémon Wiki" which has (limited) information on both the Pokémon series as the Sonic the Hedgehog series. The article you were looking at, if you bothered to read more than the opening paragraph, was about a character from the Sonic series, not Pokémon. sonicpokemon.wikia.com/wiki/King_Solomon There is no King Solomon anywhere in the Pokémon series.
45- You win. And it was legendary. You should have your own pokemon.
how odd this FML came up just now, I played Pokémon tonight for hours and I didn't see any King Solomon but I did catch a Hoothoot!
I agree with #14 I really hope this is elementary school cause that's just gonna hurt if its middle or high school
He was the richest man who has ever lived, not to mention the wisest.
I'd have just pulled up serebii or bulbapedia and simply told him "prove me wrong and I'll give you 20 bucks, or we can just pretend this never happened"
That kid needs some sense knocked into him. Seriously! King Solomon and Pokemon have absolutely nothing in common.
