Food bank? Or he might get the point when there's nothing to eat in the house. Though $30 isn't actually that bad for a single week of groceries, but hats for one or two adults, where as it seems like you are a teenager and thus still running at a higher metabolic rate as you grow.
Holy shit, where do you live that you can feed two adults on 30 bucks a week? 15 each? Living on dried beans and homemade bread AND NOTHING ELSE for three meals a day wouldn't quite make it down to that around here.
Florida. And it's largely due to the fact we buy part of a cow every spring, and buy rice and other non-perishable goods in bulk when they are on sale. Usually we just need to get bread, milk, maybe some eggs about every week and a half. If there are any fresh vegetables or fruits on sale, we might grab those too. Growing herbs cuts down the cost for seasonings. Sales are your best friend with low income- though, you should double check the price with the sale applied against the prices in other stores in the area. Sometimes they raise the price then apply the sale so they are selling the product for about the same price and sometimes at a higher price.
Um... my ex uncle used to do this to his family - they'd have a very strict budget for everything except his lotto money. Eventually my aunt saw him for the controlling abusive man he was and got him out of her's and the kid's lives. Not suggesting your father is the same... hope he's not.
Um. Your awesome. $85 for the week!!! I can't come close to that.
How about send him to get everything needed for the week and see what he comes up with. Remind him too, everything for the week for three people; so no return trips! It's hard to do if you don't have inventory of what you do have and don't account for longer lasting items. (Bags of Rice, Potatoes, Pasta, condiments)
I would as close to $30 as I can. Then when complains, show him the receipt.
Next time he sends you grocery shopping with only $30 buy a couple cases of instant ramen and give him the receipt and if he complains the following week get mac and cheese rince and repeat until he gets the point
Make him go shopping. $30 won't buy shit.
$85 seems reasonable to me. I average $160 for 2 weeks of groceries.
I am aware of that, I did read the fml. All I'm saying is that the $85 they ending up spending is a reasonable cost for a weeks worth of groceries.
Where are you living that he thinks $30 will feed a family for a week?? Are you in some mud hut somewhere in the darks of Africa??
