Today, while checking my voicemail, I noticed I had received one from a job that I've been trying to get in for months. Too bad they called two weeks ago. FML

If you wanted the job, wouldn't you expect phone calls or voicemails from them? Sorry OP, but YDI.

If you are searching for a new job you would think that checking your voicemail would be a priority.

I want to give OP the benefit of the doubt on this one. Sometimes technology is stupid and doesn't alert you to new voicemails when it should. They may not have gotten any notifications until someone else left a message. I saw this happen when I worked in tech support for AT&T.

This sort of thing happens to me all the time. Especially if I got the call when I was in an area with poor reception or had my phone on airplane mode or off. I so rarely get calls I never check, so I often have weeks-old messages.

"Oh my God my phone didn't alert me of a voice-mail notification!! #wrecked" is not an excuse. If you really care about a job you will call them to follow up within a week tops if you think you haven't heard from them. I do the hiring where I work and honestly I've called people whose phones don't let me leave a message and don't accept incoming calls and they still make sure to call us to check on their applications. the ones who don't, don't get jobs. I call everyone three times over the course of a week to a week and a half. you don't answer or call back? well I guess you don't actually want a job.

Benefit of doubt? 2week gap technology may have glitches but 2week black out but why worry apparently u have absolutely no1 that might in some odd reason need to contact u. Cuz normal ppl would maybe go 30minutes and think o something maybe wrong cuz no calls emails or texts or 2minutes weird. 2weeks is utterly ridiculous

Would you happen to be blonde with some huge knockers? If so no pics didn't happen YDI.

Yeah...like others have said...if you want a job one of the main factors is motivation...they aren't going to chase you. If you've been working towards it for months you'd think it would be on your to do lost to check your messages.

Did u actually say person who can somehow take months to wat ask for a job really call a job n say yeah I took vacation if I heard that come across phone from ur dumb brain I'd simply hang up Ur trying to get paid to work not have excuses that stopped being acceptable once u turn 18 insanity this is y they say this generation of kids is truly all useless Vacation moron says

People who are looking for a job (and let's assume are jobless at the time) don't take holidays. Times are tough, who can afford that?

While this is most likely a case of tech failing to give notifications when it's supposed to, if you're expecting a message you really should check regularly regardless of notification. For all you know, a friend might've checked the time on your phone & accidentally cleared the notification. Fyl.

NO that's not an excuse! If you really want a job you'll call and follow up rather than claim you never got a push notification. Sorry, millennials, the rest of civilization still expects you to have common sense. Sincerely, a 26 YO sick of being lumped in with you.

OK, look. I'm a recruiter. I monitor the applicants for my company and do the initial phone screen before passing people on for interviews. If I call you and leave a message and you don't call back, I'll call and leave another one....THE NEXT DAY...maybe two days if I had a day off. After that if you don't call me back or you don't answer when I try you again, I turn you down if I don't hear from you that day. If you want a job you'll be proactive. Always by the phone, always checking messages. If you KNOW you applied to a job you really want, would you only check your voice mail every two weeks?? No. In fact, most people will CALL THE PLACE THEMSELF if they haven't heard anything in three days (or less!). I know this from personal and professional experience. So don't bemoan your "unfortunate circumstance." If you really cared, you would have been proactive.

R u serious or just make excuses to continue to be a loser Cell phone don't work no alternative method of calling you maybe house line or I bet unreachable unless mommy knocks on door More like waste of life not fml

R u outta minutes on ur Obama phone cuz normal paid cell phones don't delay an incoming voicemail two weeks n did u actually wait 2weeks to check msgs cuz atleast it be half possible if u said I checked vcml everyday and never got msg until then and y didn't u call them after like longest 3days cuz what it's their fault u have no job. Get some ambition and and some follow through Christ

must you be so rude and insulting in every comment you have written on this post?

Is it possible for someone to be banned for leaving a shit ton of inane, barely-English, insulting, rude, trolling comments everywhere? Because you're a definite contender for that honor. You don't have nearly enough thumbs down, and I assume that's because no one can be bothered trying to figure out what the hell you're trying to say so they're scrolling right past and ignoring you.

Why don't you check your voicemail more frequently?! ESPECIALLY if you're job hunting!!!!!

Try checking yer voicemail daily, rather than every other week. Otherwise you'll miss more than just one potential job aspect. You could miss out on all sorts of important things. Be attentive.

Maybe just take this as a learning experience. Sorry to hear you most likely didn't get the job, but at least now you know to be proactive in checking your voicemails!
