Friends for life

Today, my best friend’s girlfriend took his phone and blocked me on Facebook, all because I wrote him a heartfelt Happy Birthday message on his wall. I found out because he messaged me from another account explaining what happened. She refuses to understand that we’re strictly platonic friends. FML

Unless your birthday message expressed your undying love for the man, you didn't do anything wrong. The girlfriend is overly controlling, unhealthily obsessive over him and wholly disrespectful towards his feelings. People who can't understand men and women can just be friends and nothing more need to grow up past highschool drama BS. You're allowed to have a life outside your significant other, and if that makes them think you're unfaithful, that means there is no trust in their love for you, and love without trust is hardly love at all.

Without knowing what you *actually* wrote on his FB, you should have a talk with your best friend about this relationship because it will only get worse for him. If she's this toxic and controlling now, imagine how she will be two or three years down the road. Unless, of course, you confessed to being in love with him for ages and then proceeded to point out how you'd be so much better for him than his current girlfriend. That's a horse of another color.

you’re not strictly platonic friends, especially if you are publicly writing heartfelt messages on his Facebook wall where his girlfriend can see. not saying she was right to take his phone, that’s all kinds of red flags, but you aren’t in the right either

I agree with wrecklesswfire. also, he can unblock you himself it is HIS phone and HIS account. so there is more to the story than what we have read. especially if he's turning to a burner account/device.

Look veeeery deep inside your soul and heart. And come to the realization that you are not just friends. There's definitely more to that than a strictly platonic relationship. There always is. Now that you see it yourself, you know that his GF wasn't that wrong.
