Today, while fasting for a medical test, my blood sugar became so low that I had heart palpitations and passed out. My doctor's advice? Fast, so he can run more tests. FML

I think your doctor might not have all of his qualifications...

I don't think your blood sugar should have dropped so low from fasting for a one day period, so you may have an issue with that. But I think you're allowed to chew gum, which might give you some extra sugar your body needs in case it gets that low again.

If you absolutely have to fast, it should be under medical supervision (such as at a hospital) in case something like this happens again. See if your doctor will allow this. If not, I would find a new doctor ASAP.

I've been a T1D for 24 years.... if he doesn't understand the issue you miiiight want to look for a new dr. (though it's not uncommon for them to ask for multiple fasting blood draws.)

Doctor is definitely in need of money. .lol

ya and pregnant women who already pee every 5 mins. Now drink 2 Large glasses of water and hold it for 2 hours before I press on your stomach.

Get a second opinion (from a doctor) and don't do anything stupid till you can get a second opinion.

This happened to me a month ago!

Tell him to eat shit, then do the same yourself.

Most doctors offices will allow you to do a walk-in to have your blood drawn. So fast from 12am until 8am (when they generally open) and have your blood drawn then. Instead of waiting for a possibly later times appointment to do so

Calling DocBastard! I think we need a second opinion here.....

I remember when he was the legend here :(
