Chocolate kills .. True story!
Sorry for your loss OP, but your girlfriend may not have known the situation.
I guess she didn't know the reason? Hopefully, anyway. At least she tried to support you. So sorry op
I'm sory for your loss, OP, but I think your gf is just trying to cheer you up by being sweet.
I'm blown away at the idea that there's even one person out there in this world who thinks that you deserved this.
I don't exactly think they deserve it, but I don't understand why they would get sadder by eating chocolate now.
You don't understand why it would be upsetting to eat the same thing that just killed his dog? Obviously it isn't a life changing devastation to eat chocolate cake, just kind of salt on an open wound.
I guess it depends on the person. I personally wouldn't be upset by the chocolate. I'd be see estates about my dog, but testing chocolate wouldn't make it worse.
It will never be said enough. Chocolate is mortally toxic for dogs. So sorry for your loss... at least you have a caring girlfriend. *hug*
True, but that only goes for pure chocolate. The amount you would need to kill a dog with normal chocolate products (which are nowhere near pure) is lot.
OP never said it was chocolate cake, they just said cake. But still, someone should know when they've given to much of something to a pet.
Ok I misread the FML and didn't realize it does in fact, say chocolate. And since FML doesn't let you delete a comment and I couldn't edit it, I now have to look like an idiot trying to explain myself.
Depends on the size of the dog too.
reasons to have a big dog and amounts of chocolate to kill dogs. White chocolate: 200 ounces per pound of body weight. It takes 250 pounds of white chocolate to cause signs of poisoning in a 20-pound dog, 125 pounds for a 10-pound dog.Milk chocolate: 1 ounce per pound of body weight. Approximately one pound of milk chocolate is poisonous to a 20-pound dog; one-half pound for a 10-pound dog. The average chocolate bar contains 2 to 3 ounces of milk chocolate. It would take 2-3 candy bars to poison a 10 pound dog. Semi-sweet chocolate has a similar toxic level.Sweet cocoa: 0.3 ounces per pound of body weight. One-third of a pound of sweet cocoa is toxic to a 20-pound dog; 1/6 pound for a 10-pound dog.Baking chocolate: 0.1 ounce per pound body weight. Two one-ounce squares of bakers' chocolate is toxic to a 20-pound dog; one ounce for a 10-pound dog.
I thought white chocolate was more dangerous? Huh, this is interesting. My dog is 40 pounds and steals chocolate a lot, so we don't buy bakers chocolate or anything but milk chocolate really, so she's safer
