Moving on

By crash and burn - This FML is from back in 2016 but it's good stuff - United States

Today, I moved states to be with my soulmate in our new condo. It was also the day I took out a neighbor's balcony with my U-Haul. FML

It's perfectly fine if you have an open relationship, OP. However, a U-Haul probably isn't the most romantic place for a date if you want to take a balcony out. Try a flatbed instead.

The key words here are "took out" not like "damaged" or "dented" You must have annihilated that balcony, OP. Nice.

With some time just tell your neighbor "remember the first time we met, when I was moving in?"

Hey you win a few, you lose a few. Or in your case, win a soulmate, lose a balcony. :) Probably worth it - especially if you're insured.

But... but... a balcony is not even on the ground? How???

Well since they were in a u-haul I imagine it was tall enough to hit the neighbors balcony.

A moving van can be as tall as 13'6" though most aren't. However, most floors are 10 feet or less in height, making the second floor balcony low enough to get hit.

OP misjudged the height of the U-Haul truck and the height of the balcony and ran the truck into the balcony. It's pretty straight forward.

they seriously need to make it a requirement for people to get a commercial drivers license to rent trucks.

Glad to see that you and your neighbors are already hitting it off
