That's why it's expensive to be poor.
there are such things as thrift stores, yard sales and free stuff
I get it 100%. I've had to make do with little money before. A couple of suggestions on how to stretch your money with things: IKEA has many very affordable but very durable things that will last years. Try their Tagarp or Barlast lamps, which are under $10. Their LED bulbs are also amazing and very affordable, and last a lot longer than even some expensive brands like FEIT (never had an IKEA bulb fail on me in over 8 years of using them). Now, some of IKEA's stuff isn't the most durable, I will admit, but if you pay attention to what you're getting you can get some truly indestructible stuff at a bargain price. Note that both the Barlast and Tagarp, due to their designs, can be used as both floor lamps and table lamps. Simply remove some of the pole sections to adjust them to your desired height. The poles and bases appear to be interchangeable as well.
