Today, to save money, I wanted to fix my own leaky roof instead of hiring someone. When I got on the roof, the ladder fell. As it was falling, it broke three windows and snagged the siding of my house ripping over half of it off. FML

That's why there are professionals.

They have people to take care of that, instead of being cheap and doing an ok job, you shoulda got it done right.

time for a new home. your house is a piece of shit.

Lesson learned, I hope. Sometimes it pays to pay. I learned this by trying to wash the windows, inside and out, on our upper-story flat. Had a couple of close calls, it took all day, and it still looked terrible. Still think I should be able to wash my own windows, but haven't tried it since. Home ownership, ain't it great (sigh).

How about, I've lived with a blue tarp and a few rolls of plastic covering my roof for over a year, because roofs really aren't something you should have done by anyone other than a professional. They're a pain in the ass to do right, and nothing is worse than spending all that time and effort and finally getting it all done, only to find out it still leaks the next time it rains.

anything that starts with "when i got on the roof" usually ends in disaster. props to you for trying, but why do i get the feeling you're not normally the type to be mr fix-it?

Can't blame you for trying to do it yourself, but of course there was a certain risk in that. Oh wellz.

You have to either be Hispanic or really cheap. Silly Hispanic men always think they can fix anything. ;D
