Should've just repeated his order as if to check and said it correctly.
Haha OP my boss is Scottish and pronounces it "Ay-zee-un", and he's well read, fairly intelligent and can spell & read just fine. Maybe the customer is just around people a lot who pronounce it 'funny' to us, who knows. Anyway, best just to smile & nod and not offend anyone. :D
I don't see how this is an FML, maybe he/she was just Spanis or Italian, here in Italy some people mispronunce Asia and Asian like that, when speaking English. Anyway I feel your pain, mispronunciation is quite harmful for your hearing.
Maybe that way is correct for him. You can't always tell someone's nationality just by looking at them. Also he could have spent time in other country and picked it up there. Sometimes being curious is better than being judgmental.
