Are you using audio headphones or using safety earmuffs designed for construction workers or those with sensory issues? I would think insurance would cover the latter if there is a diagnosed medical need.
Earplugs are cheap and easy to obtain. They will reduce your hearing sensitivity by about 30db and they are available for less than 10$ for 50 pairs.
not sure how you are doing that. I wear headphones 12 to 14 hours every day and they are still working just fine after 5 years.
