At least you have your mom. Today is my mom's bday and she passed away less than four months ago :(
just wishing she doesn't get addicting to it again and just a one time thing
Aaaaaaand back to square 1.
F her life ! well tomorrow is another day. I fought tooth and nail to quit smoking and had relapses as well. Eventually what worked for me was the realization that I am just as addicted now as I was when I used to smoke (cigarettes) years ago and *always* will have to watch for cravings and relapses. So I know that I cannot have one casually like other people can. After a while you miss it less and less but it is a lot of work. I suspect alcoholism is very similar and a daily fight as well. Good luck to your Mom. Back on the wagon tomorrow , hopefully?. If the boyfriend is the one who tempted her with the toast, he's an idiot! next time celebrate by getting her a manicure or going to the movies !
What if her goal was to only achieve 1 year without drinking. In that scenario. A well earned drink us totally called for. I myself will have a month off drinking, if the month before was a bit of a party month. One year booze free when there are so many who can't go a day. Congratulations! I say! ☺
So much butthurt in this thread hahahaha
Reminds me of a dumb criminal story. Guy busted for buying cocaine. Said the reason he bought it was to celebrate the completion of rehab.
once an addict, always an addict. it's a long and difficult race with no finish line. best of luck to her and the family
I don't understand why people can't be allowed to have an occasional beer if they've beaten their addictive hold on it. If she's strong enough maybe having a couple every now and then is enough. Bring on the down votes!

Time to start to count again, day one.
Congrats on her year of sobriety, I guess.
