No, he got fired from his paying job because he damaged the company truck while responding for his volunteer job.
Yeah, that's a whole 'nother world of hurt! At least, he should be responsible to repair the truck and face some sort of sanction for using it for non-business reasons. That probably could've been less than termination, but they might have wanted to get rid of him anyways.
