Therapy circle

Today, I found out that my dad has a therapist. That's cool. What's cooler is that she's a very nice lady, and even said to ME that I could talk too if I wanted to. Boy, do I want to. But if I did, then she would probably need a therapist herself, and the last thing my dad needs is his therapist needing a therapist. FML

My friend, every therapist needs a therapist. I wouldn't trust a therapist who wasn't in therapy. How can they help me through the worst bits of my life if no one is helping them through the worst bits of theirs? And frankly, it's very unlikely that you are the most effed up person that therapist treats. The real issue here, is that it's unethical for a therapist to treat you while also treating your father, unless this is a family therapy/group session type situation. I implore you to find your own therapist. It can take time to find the right person - you don't have to stick with the first therapist you meet, and you don't have to reveal the darkest parts of yourself on day one. Trust takes time. Good luck to you, friend.

My babymama is a therapist. It’s my understanding most of them are nuts anyway, so you wouldn’t be the reason your therapist needs a therapist.
