I don't live on a hill, the building where I would've been working is a bit tall as well which works into me being able to see it from my window. The building is all of a mile from my flat. No, lol it isn't the Shard! I did express this to them and their response then was telling me they found someone more suited for the position. I have no clue why they didn't bother saying that in the first place though. A funny thought though, I put my postcode on my CV, so if they actually thought a little into the lie they fed me, maybe they'd have just stuck with the truth in the first place. Thanks for all the positive feedback, sorry I wasn't more clear in the original post - expressing I was a mile away from the building. Hopefully I'll get a job soon! *crosses fingers*

The commute isn't a valid resin to turn you down.
You could live on a mountaintop and see a building that is many miles away. Tell your boss that you would happily nest under your desk, so you can put in 100+ hours a week while only taking pay for 40 hours. No, make that 30. No, tell them you'll pay them for room and board and volunteer your services.
Your résumé isn't good enough. Lie on it next time.
This is quite honestly some of the worst advice I've seen in years...

#70 - I sure hope so. It's not hard to go to work when you can see it from your window. It would've been awkward to call in at work anyway. Like, imagine this: OP: Can't come into work on time today. Too much traffic. Boss: OP, I can see you jacking off to **** in my office window. I'm giving you five minutes to get off your ass, get your clothes on, and get into work. OP: Damn all.
That sucks. In my field CSR the jobs pay crud but all of the offices are in areas with a high cost of living. I have to live a 2 hour bus ride from work. It's a fight everytime I have to find a new one "well don't you live too far from here" I have to explain that they can pay more and hire people close by or they can keep getting morons like me willing to kill all of my free time just to barely earn a wage.
I guess that makes it even better that they didn't hire you. If they lied to you that stupidly, who knows what else they could do?
I'm having similar problems with my job search, so I know how you feel. My latest response was I "don't have enough vision". My "vision" at the moment is to find a job so I can keep on feeding my family and not loose my house. I can't afford much more vision than that until I'm employed again. Don't loose hope!
59- Maybe you could get a job handing out dog treats.
*lose Don't apply for a job as an English teacher, but good luck.
Sorry but, I think it's timefor you to workout on your CV, if you can, of course...
I think he means this is a bullshit excuse they have for not hiring him, if he's any good then it wouldn't matter the distance
Good luck getting a job. 3 and a half months unemployed here, getting laid off sucks...
Feeling this FML. Just passed a year of unemployment. Sigh.

Could you not say this to them?
Well, I can see the moon from my window. I don't think that qualifies me to be an astronaut.
